Ultimo Reino 2 Raises Some Serious Red Flags.

Ultimo Reino 2 Raises Some Serious Red Flags.

Well, with such a comprehensive review left I feel reassured that clearly nothing can go wrong with this! Right?

Alright, I know the title is a little jarring. I don’t typically do videos like this but at the same time after the Chronicles of Elyria debacle, I feel as though when red flags like this are raised about upcoming future MMOs, it’s kinda my duty to discuss them.
Especially considering the game is coming out on April 13th. Yeah, literally next week.

So, I heard about the game via Reddit and decided to look it up on Steam. What I found was both “Ultimo Reino” and “Ultimo Reino 2.” I thought “Oh, okay cool, so it’s a sequel to an already established MMO. That’s a good sign.”
But upon closer inspection.. Ultimo Reino – the first MMO released on February 14th, 2020. Yeah, no joke, not even 2 months ago. Are we serious? Ultimo Reino releases February 2020, then Ultimo Reino 2 releases April 2020? Yikes.
Ultimo Reino is a completely free-to-play MMO, whereas Ultimo Reino 2 will be a buy-to-play MMO.

Supposedly, the game features a complete open-world, a free-class system allowing for you to design your character how you want, full dynamic action combat and no in-app purchases.
All future updates will be completely free. Only the game requires a purchase. WAIT, WHAT? Can we rewind for a second? You’re going to have to purchase the game, but.. there will be no cash-shop, no microtransactions, no subscription, but at the same, free updates?
How is that even a plausible business model? Buy-to-play MMOs like Black Desert, Guild Wars 2, Elder Scrolls Online.. all have either VIP memberships, cash shops or another form of mirco-transaction present – it’s all but a requirement to continue to fund development.
I’m sorry, I- I just- I cannot fathom the logic behind this choice.

I don’t mean to be overly critical or overly judgmental of a game and their – what I can only assume here is some guy trying to make money designing these – but even if this were a legitimate MMO, just looking at the trailers – the steam synopsis of the game.. should speak volumes of the quality.
I mean I’ve seen some games with horrid graphics really turn out to be solid games.
But a game that looks this bad visually, has several broken languages present in-game – yeah, it isn’t fully localized into English, has a flawed business model that won’t last long enough to develop or even support the server.. yeah.

I even went on to check some of the reviews left of Ultimo Reino since that’s actually playable, and while the negative reviews are from people that played for 30 minutes, 40 minutes, an hour and a half… the positive reviews are equally as bad.
How can you leave a positive review of a game with 40 minutes play-time? Then there’s one with less than 10 minutes play-time on record that just says “good game.” Like, are we serious here?
This guy gave it a positive review yet stated “there’s no way to create an account, yet an account is required to play. After figuring out how to translate their page into English, there still isn’t a way to create an account.”
What about your experience specifically warrants a positive review left?

While I may just be nit-picking here, I just get a very, very bad vibe from this game and I’ve seen those sentiments mirrored among the community.
While I won’t be trying this game out personally, I would recommend doing your homework before spending any money on this game.
There are too many red flags raised that I couldn’t in good faith recommend anyone try this out. Ultimo Reino 1? Sure, go for it. But paying for Ultimo Reino 2? No thank you.
If I’m somehow completely wrong and this is a legitimate game done by a team of developers that want to make a successful long-term MMO, then I’ll gladly eat my words in a follow-up video.
But until then, steer clear and stay safe!

Your info is incorrect. If you did research and not looked at steams shoddy “release” page as this can be edited when someone leaves early access or hits a patch date for a version.

Ultimo Reino 1 was released and added to steam store in 2009,
    https://steamdb.info/app/974520/ <– evidence here.

Stating you never played the game also is a issue with critics these days they go buy day one footage and don't check to see if there is updates Since that starting trailer which you only showed day 1 footage and not seen new graphics overhaul.
I would like to offer you the ability to try the game. See the game your self.

To your question of why 5.00 in a way it is similar to kick starting to get the game out there, how ever with out the issue of kick starter with steam is if you don't like what you see you can refund it and get your money back, If you know steam you would be aware you can change the games store price listing at any time.

5.00 at the start does not mean that it will be 5.00 a year from or a few months from now. This does hurt us in the long run to know what players want and what bugs need fixed early on if no one joins to play and experience it.
