Phantasy Star Online 2 is Experiencing a Very Concerning PC Launch.
If you’ve been keeping up to date with Phantasy Star Online 2 then this may not come as a surprise to you, but for those of you that haven’t.. then yeesh, Microsoft and the PSO2 team have definitely run into some serious issues concerning their recent PC launch.
Reddit, Twitter, and heck, even other news websites are covering this in quite a lot of detail. The internet as a whole is overrun by the mass negative response PSO2 has received over the last 36 hours, and the negative reception was definitely warranted. Maybe not nearly to the degree it has been, but nevertheless it is warranted. Many Phantasy Star Online 2 players are having one of several issues, ranging from the game being completely deleted from their computer, to error messages preventing them from clicking the “Play Game” button, to the game still being in Japanese.
While this has definitely not gone the way many fans of the game had anticipated it going, it’s Microsoft and PSO2’s dev team’s response– or lack thereof that has me confused. No mention of any issues in a blog post, no updates regarding all of the issues on their Twitter. They’ve taken the time to respond to some Tweets, but many, thousands, tens of thousands have gone unanswered.
Judging by the 1.8 out of 5 stars this has obtained on the Microsoft Store.. it’ll be interesting to see if the game can recover from this disastrous launch, but I remain hopeful as even underneath all of this, Phantasy Star Online 2 is a heck of a good MMO.
