MMORPG News: TERA: Frontier, BDO RU Shut Down, Ragnarok M: Eternal Love, Path of Exile PS4

Oh, hey there. Fancy seeing you ’round these parts. You here for some juicy MMO-related news? So is everyone else!
We got quite a bit this week as well, with MMO news coming out from every corner of the web.
So, take a breath, close your eyes, and go to your happy place while I inevitably frustrate you with both the good and the bad in this weeks Byte of MMORPG News.

TERA: Frontier

Before we jump into this game, I would first like to ask everyone watching.. do you guys not have phones?
Oh, you do? Wonderful! Then maybe you’d like one of the PC’s best and most intuitive MMORPGs to take along with you? If having TERA on your PC wasn’t enough, and En Masse couldn’t tempt you with their console release, then maybe mobile is the way to go!
The mobile title, TERA Frontier is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and like its PC counterpart, promises the same scale world and amazing PvE and PvP activities to partake of.
It is currently under development by a division of Bluehole Studios, Red Sahara Studios and has plans to release in 2019 in South Korea.
Like their upcoming Ascent: Infinite Realm MMO, Bluehole are once again partnering with Kakao Games to publish TERA Frontier globally – both in South Korea and the rest of the world.
So, what does this mean for us? Black Desert Mobile, Blade and Soul Mobile, Lineage Mobile, MapleStory Mobile, Fallout Mobile, The Elder Scrolls Mobile, Final Fantasy Mobile.. yup, if you can’t see the direction we’re headed.. then let me tell you: It ain’t to PC.

Path of Exile

If you were hoping to be able to play Path of Exile on your PS4 this year then you’re going to be a tad bit disappointed.
Grinding Gear Games, the team behind Path of Exile made an announcement earlier this week stating that they had to delay the launch of the console port until next year.
“When we announced Path of Exile for PlayStation 4 earlier this month, we indicated we were aiming for a December release.
Unfortunately, we have had to revise this to early February. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this causes, because we know there are many players looking forward to this release.
We underestimated the amount of work it would take to finish the certification process during the busy Christmas period. While we hope to have everything ready in January, we feel a lot more comfortable promising early February as a target release window.
This will also give us time to work on game performance/frame rate, which we feel could be improved before release.”
It’s honestly not much of a delay. I can say with certainty though that I would prefer them to iron out any bugs and FPS issues prior to their launch onto consoles because let’s be real here.. we as MMOers are not a very forgiving lot.

Twin Saga

If you thought that Twin Saga was dead, then.. well, I mean its population is but the game itself is definitely not.
The latest patch introduced today brings with it 5 new dungeons: Blue Crystal Falls, Senshi Territory, Oubliette Labs, Desert Canyon and Secret Flower.
Each dungeon is targeted at players over level 75. Additionally, Sapphire Keep and Hellfire’s Antre had hard difficulties added, and Nightmare mode for Necrohol of Azmaveth.
The update also brings with it new quests, and a new PvP battlefield called the “Foreign Gold Desert” which is only available during specific times of the month.
So if you want to.. take a moment, jump in and see what’s changed.

Red Dead Online

Red Dead Online is.. unfortunately not an MMO I will ever be able to play. I own as PS4 but I do not play any MMOs on it because – I mean, that’s why I have a $5,000 PC.
Like many an MMO, Red Dead Online has run into some issues with griefers: Players that are hell bent on making other players’ experience in the game a living nightmare.
A bandaid fix was introduced to combat this in the form of a parley and feud system that is honestly just.. not going to cut it. In essence, the system will allow you to be ganked four times, then the ganker will be put on a ten minute time-out.
After ten minutes, he can continue to gank you four more times before being put in another ten minute time-out. Yup, definitely going to be easy to circumvent.
If you weren’t aware of what Red Dead Online is.. think of what Grand Theft Auto Online is to Grand Theft Auto.

Revelation Online

Revelation Online has finally embraced its inner-MOBA in its latest major content update titled “Mythical Conflict”.
A new 5v5 League of Legends themed MOBA-style brawl titled Legends of Nuanor has opened up that will allow players to take control of NPC heroes and.. well, essentially murder the other team.
It’s League of Legends or DOTA but with Revelation Online characters. That’s it. Nothing special about it. I legit don’t even know why they thought this needed to be a thing.

Bless Online

I mentioned in a video yesterday that Bless Online has just released a statement detailing their plans for the future.
The new Mystic class that was promised to us not long after the game launched is now scheduled to possibly come out by the middle of next year, there are plans for new dungeons, class rebalancing, additional realm vs realm content and finally.. more expensive DLC!
Woo, because we wanted to spend another $100 on Bless to get a character-bound skin! Hell yeah!

Skyforge

Yes, this game is still online. And it’s getting a new update, to boot! An update that adds not only new content, but a new class that rocks a pretty fucking rad guitar.
The Soundweaver is a new support class that sets up portable loudspeakers on the battlefield to boost their allies’ in combat.
The update, titled Distant Frequencies, is set to go live on PC this month on December 11th, on PS4 December 12th and Xbox One on December 13th.

Black Desert Online

For those of you that have been keeping up with the drama surrounding Black Desert’s Russian servers being shut down, you’ll be happy to know that just last week Pearl Abyss finally brought the Russian servers back online.
Pearl Abyss launched various Drieghan updates without fully releasing the Drieghan expansion much to the confusion of the playerbase and it is being reported that the new Russian servers aren’t located in Russia at all, rather they’re situated in the Netherlands.
This is fueling speculation that Black Desert’s Russian servers may end up merging with various other European servers as Pearl Abyss continues taking over all publishing rights within the EU.
Think of how WoW merged Russian and EU servers together. This would increase the Russian server population providing increased competition, more fun and.. more drama.
But hey – good news! Russian servers are no longer shutting down and Russian servers may actually end up merging. Which is.. kinda shutting down if you think about it.

Ragnarok M: Eternal Love

For those of you that loved the original Ragnarok Online PC MMORPG, you may be excited or disgusted to learn that Ragnarok M: Eternal Love – a mobile remake that supposedly takes inspiration from its PC counterpart is launching globally soon.
The team behing the mobile spinoff is promising that Eternal Love will be a very faithful adaptation of the popular PC MMO.
While the game has been available in various parts of Asia for a while now, this is the first time players outside of Asia will be able to play the game.
Supposedly, the game has various classes and maps that players should be familiar with and.. yeah, it’s a mobile port of Ragnarok Online. It definitely looks better but that’s probably as far as I’d go.

Dual Universe

If you weren’t already aware – wait, what am I saying? Of course most of you weren’t aware, that’s why you’re here. Whoops, anyway, I digress.
The team behind the upcoming sandbox MMO Dual Universe is slated to have its first Alpha test beginning, actually, on the 29th of November.
Only people that backed their Kickstarter will be able to participate in the alpha test, with higher tier pledges receiving priority access.
If you want to opt into the Alpha, then you can go ahead and purchase packs to do so now, but honestly.. it’s an Alpha. I’d wait until at least Beta.

Fractured

Finally, news on a playable Alpha for Fractured has been revealed.
Dynamight Studios, the team behing the upcoming sandbox MMO Fractured have announced that a pre-alpha will be taking place beginning November 30th, so yesterday, and will have a couple hundred players participate in their test.
Every player that is allowed access will be under an NDA, however, meaning.. yeah, no videos, screenshots, nothing at all. The official Alpha test for Fractured is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2019.
Like Dual Universe, and pretty much all crowdfunded games, only players that bought pledge packs will be allowed to participate.
