MMORPG News: Aion NA 6.0 Update, BDO Expansion, Fallout 76 Beta, WildStar Last Days

I thought last week was all the news to hit the web for the foreseeable future, but boy was I wrong. We got another handful of games worth talking about this week – Aion, WildStar, Black Desert Online, Dauntless, Fallout 76, Gloria Victis, Rift, and finally.. Rend..
So sit back, grab a packet of Doritos, a Coke, and take a byte out this week’s MMORPG news.

Aion

Alright, so let’s kick this off with a little positive news first, yeah?
For all you Aion fans out there that saw the recent 6.0 patches hit the EU servers, providing a huge overhaul to the game and leveling experience.. I have some good news!
NCSoft has announced that the North American iteration of the Free-to-play MMORPG Aion is receiving a large patch on October 24th titled “Awakened Legacy”.
The update brings with it a bevy of features including an increased level cap all the way up to level 80.
A new zone called Lakrum, decribed as “a land of vast wilderness, dotted with long-forgotten ruins” and “populated by mysterious creatures not seen elsewhere and housing an enigmatic, solemn fortress guarded by the Jotun”.
New quests along with a new dungeon called Primeth’s Forge will be available for players to partake of as you attempt to take down the sinister Ereshkigal who has overtaken the forge and is holding Primeth hostage.
We will have a video up this week showcasing the overhauled leveling experience for players that’re interested!

WildStar

Last week we announced that WildStar would be shutting down. We didn’t have an exact time that would take place, however, Carbine Studios have officially given us confirmation on when that date would be.
It is with great anguish and sorrow that I’m relaying WildStar’s final day will be November 28th. For any fans of the game, or players that want to try the game out in its final days before it vanishes into history, now is the time.
RIP WildStar.

Black Desert Online

Black Desert Online is launching the latest of its free major content expansions titled Drieghan: The Heritage of Sherekhan on November 14th.
Players will be able to look forward to new story-related content regarding the cursed Sherekhan tribe, new swampy and mountainous locales to explore, and Garmoth, a large new boss to tackle and inevitably die against.
The new areas seem to take a little inspiration from Tibet or Mongolia, from what I can tell, but maybe that’s just me. I’m getting a lot of Far Cry 4 vibes from what I’ve seen of the expansion announcement.

Dauntless

It’s been a little while since I’ve talked about Dauntless. But, as of this week, October 3rd to be exact, slayers will have a new weapon added to their arsenals.
Phoenix Labs, the team behind Dauntless have announced that they are introducing a brand-new weapon type, Repeaters into the game. Although small, they pack a sizeable punch.
While the Repeater isn’t the first ranged weapon introduced into the game up until this point, it offers players a unique, incentivized “point-blank range” fighting style, as getting up all close and personal with Behemoth’s provides increased damage.
Not only is the ranged combat unique, but the Repeater is the very first weapon to be fully modular and customizable, being comprised of four separate parts: The barrel, chamber, grip and prism, which deterimne the weapon’s element, thrown ability, passive bonus and skillshot ability.
Phoenix Labs have expressed their interest in wanting to make a weapon that encouraged players to mix and match their Repeater parts to tailor the weapon to the quarry they’re actively hunting.

Fallout 76

Who here is hyped for Fallout 76? Being a huge fan of Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4.. I can say that I am ardently anticipating its release to share and revel in its glory with friends and fans alike.
Now, the studio behind the new Fallout game has stated that the BETA will be arriving on Xbox One on October, 23rd, with the Playstation 4 and PC ports having their BETA run on October 30th, a whole week later.
They went on to state that “While players ultimately will experience unique adventures, stories, and exciting moments along their Fallout 76 journey, they’ll all begin the same: within the safe confines of Vault 76 on Reclamation Day.”
Players that are interested in participating in the beta test will be able to by preordering the game. Fallout 76 will formally launch on November 14th.

Gloria Victis

An MMO that is never really talked about, Gloria Victis, has recently been updated with various new features that are sure to set a fresh, interesting gameplay atmosphere for the medieval MMORPG.
Four new areas have been converted into guild forts and guild castles that various competing guilds vie for control over.
After taking one over, players will be able to see workers within the strongholds producing resources that can be taken by the guild in control of the area, or forcefully by others.
Additionally, open world PvP has been upgraded with the new Soft Lock system, experience gained from both open world PvP and Arenas has been increased, and various quality of life changes have been applied to models, items, and a variety of in-game optimizations have been made.

Rift

I have a strong disdain for Trion, but regardless, Rift Prime will be re-adding the next major expansion called Storm Legion to its progression servers on October 3rd.
Players may remember this from when it launched all the way back on November 13, 2012, but for those of you that don’t, Storm Legion allows players to traverse two new continents, adds seven new dungeons to progress through, and new story-related quests.
The level cap has been increased to 60, a new Grandmaster level skill cap is introduced for crafting, and a new city hub is opened for players to AFK in.
After Storm Legion officially re-launches, three additional raids and new continents will continue to be added.. again.
Now, in celebration of Rift Prime’s re-release of an expansion released 6 years ago, both Live and Prime players will have an opportunity to earn new Twitch drops.
Players who participate in the launch day Twitch stream on October 3rd will have a chance to win unique costumes!
Sigh..

Rend

Finally, for those of you that are fans of Rend.. yes, all 200 of you, I would like to inform you that unfortunately.. your game is dead. That is all.
