Genshin Impact Closed Beta Release Date Announced
I’m a pretty big fan of Genshin Impact. I did a video on it in November that garnered over 200,000 views – and honestly.. I can see by the incredibly positive reception that you were all pretty impressed by what you saw as well.
Which is good, because I’m not only excited to be able to play this with Mrs Stix, but also to record videos on it. I believe it’s playable with more than just 2 players though, right?
Which means if you guys decide to jump in and play then we can probably party with and play with you as well. Which’d be pretty sick, actually!
Games are more fun when you play with other people – I just hope that personal progress doesn’t impact your ability to play with one another.
Right, but that’s not what you’re here for. So, miHoYo, the developer behind Genshin Impact revealed earlier last week that the game finally had a confirmed Closed Beta date. Yes, not an “official full release,” but a Closed Beta test nevertheless.
This means that hundreds, if not thousands of players are going to be able to log in and test the game out before it goes into Open Beta. When will the Closed Beta take place? According to miHoYo, the game will be available during the first quarter of 2020.
That could be this month, or as soon as next month.
I know, I know. “But Stix, “within the next couple months” is a little vague” – I’m well aware that they’re being a litle vague in terms of an actual date, but let’s be honest, it’s better than what we’ve had up ’til this point, right?
I’d much rather have a time frame, even if it’s within the next 2 months, than to have what Nexon have given us with regards to Project BBQ. We still don’t even know if that game’s cancelled or not!
So, Closed Beta registrations are currently open for players to sign up to.
How long the registration will be open is currently unknown, so do make sure you take the time to sign up if you’re interested. I have, and I hope both Mrs Stix and I get in!
miHoYo have done a pretty good job in terms of hyping the playerbase up and providing a steady stream of trailers and information to keep our appetites whet.
For those of you that are unaware what Genshin Impact is, it is an open-world RPG that has been compared time and time again to Breath of the Wild, often having people call it “nothing more than a clone.” The game isn’t technically an MMO.
You won’t see hundreds of players out and about doing quests or be able to easily group up with them to tackle content, but it does have multiplayer functionality that will allow you to party up with several other people and not only explore, but battle and progress together.
The combat is complete action combat and looks absolutely stunning – both the gameplay and the world itself. Since the game is going to be an RPG as opposed to an MMO, it looks like you’ll have a selection of characters to play as at a given time.
Unfortunately, other than the basics of what I just mentioned, not much more in terms of multiplayer functionality, character progression or the world itself has been elaborated on.
However, with the Closed Beta being right around the corner, you can bet there’s going to be a lotta information coming out all at once.
I’m excited. Not only does the game look beautiful, not only does the gameplay look like a lotta fun, but the game is releasing onto PC and is going to be cross-platform compatible with consoles and mobile devices, meaning the playerbase is going to be quite large.
I’m just hoping there aren’t going to be too many microtransactions ’cause that’d instantly kill my anticipation for it.
And don’t let the haters saying it’s a “Breath of the Wild clone” dissuade you from trying the game out.
